Targeted therapy vs chemotherapy
Chemotherapy generally affects rapidly dividing cells. Targeted therapy acts on a particular feature that helps some cancer cells grow or survive. Neither is automatically better.
What remains uncertain
A treatment name alone cannot predict whether it will work for one person. Biomarker eligibility and expected benefit vary.
Questions for your care team
- Has my tumour been tested for relevant biomarkers?
- What benefit is expected for my situation?
- Which side effects need an urgent call?
- How will we know whether treatment is working?
